दण्ड के विषय में
4. दंड।4. इस संहिता के प्रावधानों के तहत अपराधियों को जो दंड दिए जा सकते हैं, वे हैं-
(क) मृत्युदंड;
(ख) आजीवन कारावास, अर्थात् व्यक्ति के शेष प्राकृतिक जीवन के लिए कारावास;
(ग) कारावास, जो दो प्रकार का होता है, अर्थात्:-
(1) कठोर, अर्थात् कठोर श्रम;
(2) साधारण;
(घ) संपत्ति की जब्ती;
(ङ) जुर्माना;
(च) सामुदायिक सेवा।

Of Punishments
4. Punishments.4. The punishments to which offenders are liable under the provisions of this Sanhita are-
(a) Death;
(b) Imprisonment for life, that is to say, imprisonment for remainder of a person’s natural life;
(c) Imprisonment, which is of two descriptions, namely:—
(1) Rigorous, that is, with hard labour;
(2) Simple;
(d) Forfeiture of property;
(e) Fine;
(f) Community Service.
