अध्याय XIII
213. जो कोई अपने द्वारा किए गए किसी कथन पर हस्ताक्षर करने से इंकार करेगा, जब उससे उस कथन पर हस्ताक्षर करने की अपेक्षा किसी लोक सेवक द्वारा की जाती है, जो यह अपेक्षा करने के लिए वैध रूप से सक्षम है कि वह उस कथन पर हस्ताक्षर करे, तो उसे किसी एक अवधि के लिए सादा कारावास से, जिसे तीन महीने तक बढ़ाया जा सकता है, या जुर्माने से, जो तीन हजार रुपये तक बढ़ाया जा सकता है, या दोनों से, दंडित किया जाएगा।

213. Whoever refuses to sign any statement made by him, when required to sign that statement by a public servant legally competent to require that he shall sign that statement, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to three thousand rupees, or with both.
